It’s that time of year when the rain forces us indoors, depriving us of heat and light from the sun. It makes us want to buy a big ol’ pie and retreat to a remote corner somewhere in the house to devour said pie in three bites.
Either way, it’s National Pie Day on Saturday, January 23 and to mark this joyous occasion, Fuel Coffee is offering discounts on 7″ deep dish pies and Flipsides (handheld pies!) from High 5 Pie . You’ll receive a discount too if you special order your pie now for pick up on the 23rd.
Choose from apple or cherry almond for the 7″ pie options, or try a Flipside. They offer a new chocolate/oatmeal/craisin, a savory potato/cheese/dill/veggie, a savory mac n’ cheese, and new savory broccoli/mushroom/cheddar. And, for one day only, you can order a delicious apple/cheddar/rosemary either in a pie or Flipside!
Pie! Handheld pie! What are you waiting for?
As much as I love pie, & appreciate Fuel promoting pie, a marketing campaign by Fuel is insufficient to declare a national day of such import, particularly when pie day is already established, by definition, as 3.14.
Pardon the nerdy protest, for this is my birthday (& my mother’s, both of us huge pie fans).
Lesli, You may want to take up your protest with the American Pie Council, and not Fuel. According to the Council, January 23 has been declared as National Pie Day. http://www.piecouncil.org/
I’d be bummed, too, if they switched it from my birthday! So, I move to declare March 14 as the official Lesli and Mom’s Birthday and Pie Celebrating Extravaganza!
Curse them! We’re not even through month 1 of my New Year’s dieting resolution & now I want pie!
@Lesli.
3.14 is Nation “Pi” Day. Different pi/e. 😉

I’m looking forward to 3.14.15 when the world will celebrate the ultimate pi at exactly 9:26 a.m.
@Margaret — now that’s just the sort of nerdiness I can get excited about!
Thanks, Margaret; I have taken up my protest with APC. It was a Fuel barista who told me the date was an arbitrary choice. I had no idea the entire country was behind this! Ah well, I suppose two pi/e days are better than one.
