A group of neighbors are gathering this Friday, January 22nd at the Good Shepherd Center for some communal cooking and meal sharing and the theme is Stews and Casseroles. From the Facebook event page for the Community Kitchen:
Based on the survey/discussion results of our November Community Kitchen, we have put together the plan for 2010.
• We will plan a theme for each Community Kitchen along with a list or required ingredients. Each person is asked to contribute an appetizer, side or dessert, and also contribute an ingredient or $10 to prepare the main course . If you plan to contribute money instead of buying an ingredient, please notify us in advance when you RSVP so that we can purchase items on your behalf. Ingredients lists will be published at least one week prior to the meeting.
• All Community Kitchens will be held on Friday evenings starting at 5:30pm and will be held at the Wallingford Senior Center until further notice (the Wallingford Community Senior Center is in the Good Shepherd Center 4649 Sunnyside Ave N Room 140 Lower Level).
• As we move into the harvesting season, our Community Kitchens may include food preservation and a small fee will be collected to cover the cost of the supplies.
• We will follow the seasons and use local produce in every possible way! As a sub-group of Sustainable Wallingford, please source your food with consciousness and with respect to the environment, the animals and your friends & neighbors.
