A intrepid crew of preparers, led by Wallingford Community Council President Mary Heim, has put together a response plan and in the event of some disaster that knocks out traditional communication channels. If cell phones don’t work, the Internet’s out, and tin cans aren’t up to the job, it’s ham radio time:

Last call for those interested in training and licensing on the GRMS and HAM radios that we have purchased as part of the City of Seattle pilot grant for community communications infrastructure. Licensing is quick and easy, and will be reimbursed if your receipt is returned to by Tuesday next week.

Our next regular meeting will be held on January 26th, 5:30 PM. Radio training date will be announced in January.

The deadline to get signed up is TOMORROW. The grant funds expire like Cinderella’s pumpkin at 5:00 PM on Thursday and I am trying to submit the final invoice 12/30/09.
