Kimberly, a member of the CoolMoms, a group of women working to raise awareness around climate issues, sent this call-out for donations for their second annual Swap n’ Shop Toy Sale, a fundraiser they’re holding for their group and for FamilyWorks:
I’m a CoolMom (belonging to the Greenwood/Ballard group because currently there isn’t a Wallingford group), and I’m helping organize a fundraiser to benefit CoolMom.org and FamilyWorks.
Here’s the skinny:
We are really short on used-toy donations, and without them our Toy Sale n’Swap won’t be much of one. This fundraiser is a great way for families to make some room in the toy chest for the onslaught of holiday gifts while making sure their used toys go to loving homes. It also keeps the toys out of the landfills. Last year, with the economy being so bad, many families who thought they weren’t going to be able to give their children much of a Christmas (or Hanukkah or Solstice) were able to find some really nice toys for not very much money.
Please ask your readers to donate children’s toys, games and books to our sale! There are 5 donation locations available (see below) and, as a bonus for Wallyhood readers, they can also drop them off on my porch: 3827 Bagley Ave. N, just down the street from Irwin’s (and the same place some of them dropped off recycling containers for the fruit tree harvest).
The last day for donations is Wednesday, November 11th. But a small burst of activity sooner than that would sure make me feel better 😉
Thanks, Kimberly Christensen
