In reviewing our numbers, we realized that we crossed a little milestone on October 12: we have over 1,000 readers subscribed to our RSS feed (either via e-mail or something like Google Reader).
That’s not a count of the number of people reading us every day because some subscribers won’t actually read every article and there are lots of folks who visit the site directly via the web instead of subscribing, but it’s a handy milestone.
Another handy metric is “Absolute Unique Visitors”. That’s the measure of how many people visited the web site at least once during the past month. According to The Google, Wallyhood had 5,546 Absolute Unique Visitors in the past month and 35,168 page views (and that doesn’t count the RSS readers we mentioned above). Considering the size of Wallingford and the fact that our first post was just back in January, we’d say that’s just dandy.
Sorry for the crowing, but when you’re proud, you want to share.
And, at the risk of being crass, now seems like a good time to remind you that if you’d like to support what we’re doing, you’re invited to sponsor Wallyhood. We only ask $100 / month, and we’ve even built our own little “ad network” with our neighbors to the north, My Green Lake, allowing you to sponsor both blogs for $150 / month.
Barring that, though, if you do like what you’re reading, we have two small asks for you:
- Tell someone whom you think might be interested about us. We grow by word of mouth.
- Leave comments on the stories that interest you with your thoughts. This is all so much more fulfilling when it’s a conversation, rather than a broadcast.
Just curious, where do you get your RSS subscription stats from? I thought the whole point of RSS is that there is no authentication so it should be hard to track who subscribes to what.
Or are these FeedBurner stats?
Thanks.

Love the blog, Jordan! And congratulations on building your base traffic so quickly. I’ll be sure to mention sponsorship to anyone I think might be interested…
You’re doing a great job on Wallyhood, Jordan! I always let people know that if they want to know what is going on in all corners of Wallingford, Wallyhood is the place to look. I have to admit that I barely know what is going on in my micro-piece of Wallingford. The articles about what’s happening down by the cut, over in the east (Stone Way) or other parts of the ‘hood are very interesting and helpful to stay in touch.
I also like the give & take, the discussions that happen in some of your posts. I like to hear other’s input about happenings around the ‘hood.
Keep up the good work – hope the knee is doing well!
Yay Jordan! 🙂
