The Seattle Public Schools has released the newly redrawn school district maps. These maps show to which school your child will be assigned based on where you live.
Click on the map at right to see the full-size document, but as you can see, the boundaries have changed significantly. The John Stanford School boundaries now extend further west, just shy of Stone Way, but end at 45th St to the north. If you’ve above 45th St in Wallingford and are waiting to go to elementary school, you’re headed to the newly re-opening McDonald School (that is, after it opens in 2012…until then, you’re headed to the Lincoln School).
That last bit was a surprise to us. We didn’t realize the McDonald school was slated for re-opening so soon. Perhaps, as Scott suggests, it got a boost when Robin Williams filmed parts of World’s Greatest Dad there.
Middle schoolers in Wallingford and Fremont and parts of the U District will all be headed to the newly remodeled Hamilton International School by Wallingford Playfield (the “International” part recognizes that they’ll be extending the multilingual program that the John Stanford International School now offers).
There are mixed reactions from around the neighborhood. One parent notes, for example, that this may split up her younger children, who will now attend McDonald, from her older children, who are already enrolled at the JSIS. Still, this just determines initial assignment, and it sounds like some shuffling may happen based on enrollment numbers.

Update: If you’re on the border, this page will tell you exactly which school you’d be assigned to: http://www.seattleschools.org/area/main/DataFlow.
Also, it sounds like the the fact the McDonald school is re-opening at Lincoln in 2010 and at the “real” site in 2012 was a surprise to many. Here’s some links to other news sites:
