It’s a calamity, people, a calamity! The impact waves of Winchell’s closing have apparently rippled across the parking lot to the humble taco truck in the rear corner, Rancho Bravo. In response to our note that the Seattle Weekly was hosting a give-away at the Rancho Bravo taco truck, DOUG. commented:
I don’t think this event happened today. In fact Rancho Bravo is CLOSED! Hopefully it’s only temporary. Their sign says they’re working on a new lease.
We’ll be making some phone calls tomorrow to find out what’s what. In the meantime, if someone’s heading over to Capitol Hill, pick us up a coupla burritos?
NOOOOOOO! How can you close a parking lot?
should be fine. I am sure they can negotiate something with the owners there for a lease of the parking lot or the winchells building. They do so well that I imagine the owner and Rancho Bravo will be motivated to get something done.
They can park on my lawn! All I ask for a 5-year lease is tamales..
Seriously though, I imagine the people looking to do something with the Winchell’s building aren’t thrilled at the idea of sharing the lot with RB 🙁 I’d hate to lose them, but where else could they go and still be in the W’hood?
– take over the Winchell’s building (LDO!)
– next to the check-cashing place and coffee stand?
– Church parking lot behind Dick’s
– The Festering Pit? I mean, it’d be pumped out and whatnot.. its a better use for it than simply being an eyesore 🙂
Oh no! Maybe they could move to the church parking lot where the Mosaic coffee house is. Or better yet, maybe they could share space with Mosaic…
Maybe team up w/ Wallyhood Senior Center. You know, pancakes in the morning and tortillas at night.
I think my property value just went down. Do we know when we will have more information on this?
Aww, and I kept meaning to stop by…
There are tons of places along 45th that could take a taco truck. What about the old video store that’s some property company now? What about all that wasted plaza space around Wallingford Center?
A tragedy! Where will I get my tortas and rice bowls? I hope they can find something!
The taco truck belongs in gritty East Wallingford. Anything west of Dick’s is inappropriate.
Disagree. WestWall would be the perfect home for the truck.
Sorry, I’m with Doug. West Wallingford has Molly Moon’s and Trophy and Tilth and all that urban chic silliness. Leave East Wallingford something, for goodness sakes.
Whatever the owners of RB do, I hope they keep running their restaurant out of a truck. Having to sit outside under the tent is half the fun of going there.
