Looking for something to do Friday night? Sounds like Selena’s Guadalajara is going to be jumpin’ this Friday, Oct 16th starting at 9 pm with a benefit show for Project Ganas:
Project Ganas, works to create and promote educational opportunities for youth in neglected regions of Central America. The focus of our benefit event is on a rural, subsistence-farming town named Colonia Libertad, in NW Costa Rica. … The nearest high school consists of four posts supporting a tin roof — walls are not affordable. To reach the more equipped high school in La Fortuna, students will spend four hours a day on a bus, and eight hours in classes. To graduate from high school, students must pass a test called the Bachillerato. Last year, four students from Colonia Libertad passed the test. Only one graduated without having missed or failed a year. While many students here have the desire and passion to learn, few can afford the time or money required to educate themselves to the level of a high school graduate. Improving the local high school would give many young adults the access
to educational opportunities they deserve. We want to invite the Wallingford community to show up October 16th and party down for this great cause. Our line-up includes:
- BAMBA BRAZIL – They’ve performed at Sounders’ pregame parties, Cellars on Thursdays, and Brazilian events across Seattle. On 10/16 they’ll bring samba, axé, and Brazilian funk.
- FREMONT DRUM ALL-STARS – Featured act at the monthly “Let’s Drum and Dance,” this drum performance troupe specializes in African and Cuban dance rhythms.
- DJ PHIL ANTHONY + DJ ALSPIN – Two great DJs to make it a true dance party… expect Latin, Mash Up, and World Beats throughout the night…
Guadalajara will also be offering drink specials and happy hour appetizers until closing this night only.
Two live acts. Two DJs. Cheap drinks – all for a $10 cover.
