Though we’re not quite sure by whose declaration, today is National Cupcake Day, and there is no better place to celebrate this auspicious occasion than the city’s finest cupcake emporium, Trophy Cupcakes (in Wallingford Center, 1815 N 45th St). We hear from Jennifer Shea, Trophy’s Chief Cupcakologist :
Sunday, October 18th is National Chocolate Cupcake Day, and although we pay tribute to chocolate pretty much every day of the year here at Trophy, we thought we’d debut a flavor we’ve wanted to see for a very long time. Ok, we’ve actually dreamed about it on several occasions, and I can’t wait for you to try it…
Chocolate Hazelnut – Our Valrhona chocolate cupcake, hand-frosted with chocolate Nutella buttercream and edged in candied hazelnuts. It’s an absolute stunner!
We’ll also feature our Chocolate Stout cupcake this Sunday, too! We use fresh-off-the-tap Hale’s Cream Stout in the cake, buttercream AND caramel that we drizzle on top. This cupcake has been so popular that beginning Wednesday, October 21st we’ll have it every day through Halloween. The flavor I created for my appearance on Martha Stewart, Chocolate Graham with Toasted Marshmallow (aka S’more) will also be available. And of course, we’ll also have the Triple Chocolate cupcake–a favorite every day–made with Valrhona chocolate cake and Callebaut bittersweet buttercream covered in French chocolate sequins.
So, should we mention our hot chocolate with housemade ganache AND marshmallows, or would that be too much?
I did my cupcake duty and hit up Trophy today! They had some wonderful varieties, and it was delicious as usual!
