We’re very happy to welcome a new sponsor to Wallyhood, the fine folks over at Pangaea Organica, roasting artisan, fair trade coffee right in Wallingford. The second best thing about Pangaea is that they will actually deliver the coffee to your door within a day of it being roasted if you live in Wallingford (or nearby). That is fresh and local! Click their logo to the right for more info.
The first best part about Pangaea is that they are donating a 12 oz bag of their locally roasted, fair trade coffee to Wallyhood readers every week!
We’ll be adding a weekly contest of one sort or another to decide who to give it to. For the inaugural week, we’ll keep it simple: leave a comment on this post with your favorite spot in Wallingford to enjoy a hot cup of coffee, and we will choose one commenter at random as the winner. Be sure to include your e-mail address on the form when you comment (it won’t be shared with other readers, but we need to know how to contact you if you win).
As long as we’re at it, we want to thank our other sponsors, as well:
- Cooper Jacobs: These local real estate brokers will help you find the right house in the right neighborhood….Wallingford! (Although, of course, if you choose to live elsewhere, I’m sure they’ll help you there, too). Their web site even features a handy map of Wallingford homes for sale.
- FindADogWalker.com: This Wallingford-run web site connects dog walkers and sitters with those who need walking and sitting (or, technically, those whose pets need walking or sitting…Dogs don’t use the Internet). As a special offer to Wallyhood readers, if you are a dog walker or sitter and would like to be listed, include the promo code “Wallyhood” in your company description when signing up and get a second year’s listing for free!
- Archie McPhee: Despite the fact that they replaced the liquor store at 45th and Stone Way and have refused our repeated entreaties to sell bathtub gin under the counter, Archie McPhee continues to win the hearts of Wallingford and the city with their many, many pieces of weirdness.
- Fuerte Fitness: This gym focuses on personal fitness training for everybody (no need to be a hunk, they even have special classes for moms-to-be and recently-mommed). Everything from kickboxing to yoga to tummy toning.
- The Folkstore: A store for musicians: acoustic fretted instruments bought and sold, sheet music, parts, and a whole lot of picking.
There is nothing, absolutely nothing, like sitting on my front yard deck in Wallingford and enjoying the newspaper and my morning cup of coffee. Even though the tang of fall weather is definitely present, I will not give up my decent-weather morning ritual…for as long as possible. Occasionally, I get up and dead-head a few of the cosmos, but mostly, I just sit and enjoy this quiet, green, in-city enclave while I sip my coffee.
We started ordering Pangaea coffee after the original post here. Rick delivers it by bike right to our door. Sometimes, even the same day. Double yay!! in my busy mom world. Super tasty, too. Anywhere in Wallingford where there’s coffee, I’m happy drinking it!
On one of those deck chairs outside of Irwin’s.
My kitchen.
At Zoka. The coffee keeps bringing me back.
On my couch, with my sweetie near by, and no obligations for the rest of the day.
While walking my fine dog Skye on these lovely fall mornings! Usually near Mosaic and Dick’s.
On the roof of our house in Ravenna on a foggy morning–the warm brew compliments the chill of the morning under the trees
Gotta be Irwin’s, and not just because it’s half a block away—I visited often when we lived elsewhere in the Wallyhood, but now that we’re close, our coffee expenses have spiked.
My room has a panoramic view facing Southeast, so I wake up with the sun in the mornings. My favorite way to start my morning is to french press some coffee, open the blinds, and read a few pages in a book next to my windows. It’s also absolutely worth it to trek up to the rose garden at Woodland Park with a travel mug. A stroll through the roses with delicious coffee in hand, yes please!
I am always down to go to Irwin’s.
My cup of Diva’s Highlands Roast (although I will be giving Pangaea a try), strongly brewed and steaming out on my deck. Heaven.
Definitely in my kitchen. My 5 year old pulls a fantastic shot of Zoka’s Paladino espresso blend. I look forward to trying Pangaea, but they’re gonna have to be pretty good to beat Zoka.
Hooray! I love coffee. I usually pick up a cup at a variety of shops on 45th (fuel, Julias, Trophy, etc) on Saturday mornings when I’m doing my Wallingford errands walking tour 🙂
Stumptown beans at Mighty-O. It’s hard to beat stumtown roasting and beans.
I love a fresh cup of joe 1st thing in the AM. This gets an umemployed arse going! I enjoy my cup in front of my computer while scanning the Craigslist job ads hoping to find gainful employment within walking distance. Who would not like that?
The fabulous chairs outside of Irwin’s. Especially when it’s just turning to Fall and there’s a little chill in the morning air.
I tend to favor Starbucks on 45th since it’s so close to home – even though the best beans I ever had, a rare Java Peaberry, haven’t resurfaced in more than 10 years! Wasn’t aware of Pangaea, will have to check them out. I’m almost out of my stockpile of Casi Cielo.
I second Mighty-O. Stumptown can’t be beat especially when paired with a French Toast Donut.
A cup of joe is best while watching my kid play around on a crisp fall day…at Wallingford Park, of course!
The best place for coffee is on a sunny day sitting outside of Zoka.
Zoka, by the windows.
Obviously LGH doesn’t have children (“…and no obligations for the rest of the day”). Ha! I’m easy to please: a few peaceful minutes of quiet, coffee in hand, sitting on the patio in the morning sun. Now, there’s a little bit of heaven!
And the winner is…LGH! We’ll be in touch. New contest starts tomorrow, watch the blog.
