@Cherrrylll just tweeted a warning for folks in the Wallingford / Green Lake / Woodland Park neighborhood:
*COUGAR* sighting near Woodland Park. Keep small pets indoors!!!!!!!
We assume she means the wildcat kind, not the other kind. Also, while the Woodland Park Zoo is near Woodland Park, we figure she doesn’t mean one behind bars.
That’s all we know. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.

Update (10:23 pm): According to NWCN, State Wildlife officials have confirmed the cougar sighting in the area of Greenwood / Woodland Park:
State wildlife officials confirm a cougar sighting in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood today, and in Magnolia last night.
Magnolia resident Lori Jacobs saw the cat in a residential neighborhood near Lawton Elementary School and Discovery Park.
Just after midnight last night, she drove her car into an alley and saw the cougar.
“This cat was large; he was very long. His tail was very long,” Jacobs said. “I was fairly shook up, I have to tell you.” […]
Today in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood, another cougar sighting was reported near Woodland Park and the zoo.
“We’re alerting all of our local officers in King County,” said Capt. Bill Hebner, Fish and Wildlife agent. “To make sure they have their capture equipment. And when we get a good sighting – a fresh sighting – we’ll deploy those officers and attempt to capture it and relocate it.”
Seattle cougar sightings have been going on for more than a week.
Apparently, there’s also one roaming in Magnolia near Discovery….

A Cougar is a BIG animal to just make it’s way through the burbs and into the heart of the city unannounced. Where’s the proof?! I want to see some camera phone photos of this kitty.
Curiously enough, Wired magazine ran a story about Orson Wells style hoaxes in their print edition this month.

All I can think of when reading these articles is the last Dina Martina show I went to: “I’m a cougar!”
SWEET! He’s coming to bust his buddies outta the zoo!
