A while back, we had a series of comments from people moaning that there aren’t enough yoga studios in Wallingford (and, specifically, 45th Street). We recently had Yogalife open down on Pacific and now we’ve learned that Amber and Colin, co-owners of the fabulous locavore vegetarian restaurant Sutra as well as Rain City Yoga are opening Sutra Yoga, right next to Sutra the restaurant on 45th St. They write:
Namaste Friends,
Starting September 1st, we are embarking on a new adventure and will begin construction on Sutra Yoga and Wellness Center in Wallingford, right next door to Sutra Restaurant on 45th. Our goal is to open the doors to our new space November 1st. We will be offering a full schedule of yoga classes, as well as other healing modalities. This project brings us to our hope of creating a holistic healing center where community can come and share the experience of a radiant body and a brighter consciousness.
Offerings of Sutra Yoga and Wellness Center:
- Prana Vinyasa Yoga classes geared towards practitioners who want to dive deep into the practice of yoga through mantra, pranayama, and a strong flowing class.
- Heated Strength Based Yoga for those who want a more straight forward class that focuses on core work, breath, lower and upper body strength.
- We will also be offering weekly Yin Yoga/Meditation and Monthly Kirtan, and we will slowly build to offer Massage, Reiki, and other healing sessions and workshops.
We are connecting with you because we are looking for help with our endeavor, and/or we thought you might have a creative way that you could be involved. Here are a few things we know we’re in need of:
- Carpentry/construction/labor help
- Office Systems Management
- Interior Design/Shopping
- General techie training and assistance
- Funding
We’re also open to trades and your input. If you want to get involved, but aren’t sure about how you could be of help, contact us at [email protected].
Good news for the neighborhood! Sutra is a treasure, and I might even be convinced to pick up a hammer and wander down for construction help (or hindrance, as the case may be).
With respect to moaning about what 45th needs, I have but one word: pho.
