The Office of Economic Development is seeking nominations for the Mayor’s Small Business Awards 2009 through September 2nd.
According to the OED (not the Oxford English Dictionary, the economic guys downtown), the annual awards honor the diversity and excellence of 10 small businesses in Seattle, as well as their contribution to our economic vitality and quality of life.
Wallingford is great, and so are our small businesses. Nominate your favorite. Nominate your own. Nominate your neighbor. It’s been a tough year, and props are in order!
Eligibility requirements:

Sorry, franchises and non-profits are not eligible.
Businesses will be judged on their history and vision, management practices, entrepeneurial spririt and customer service, community involvement, and overall impression.
Nomination forms are available online here. But you’ve only got til September 2nd. Hurry!
Nominees get a window decal & 2 tickets to the award reception. Winners get a decal too. And 4 tickets to the reception. And they get some free advertising: a Seattle Channel tv program featuring the business, and an announcement ad in a “major local newspaper.” There’s only one major local paper in print, so I guess they could’ve just named it, right?
