Continuing Stories from the Community week, we share this rave review of the Golden Olive (1712 N 45th St) sent in by Rory:
It was hot!! Too hot to cook. So out to dinner. The Goddess of parking gave us a parking spot in front of the Golden Olive restaurant. I thank her. We had intended to go to another restaurant within easy walking distance. My wife mentioned that she had thought to try the Golden Olive as well. We of course wanted air conditioned comfort and were not going to accept less.
Until being greeted by the owner who I knew through a mutual friend. She was so gracious and humorous that we decided to brave the heat. We are thankful we did. We were fed generous portions of the best greek food I have eaten in the forty years of eating in Seattle. My wife had prawns with vegetables and I had seafood linguini with goat cheese. My wife gave me a few of her gigantic prawns. Incredible. My linguini was so good, I ate more than was comfortable. My wife and I feel this was the best meal we have ever eaten on 45th in our twenty years of living in Wallingford.
This place is quite the hidden gem. My boyfriend and I gave it try about a year ago, and loved it! It’s small and cozy, and the owner has an interestingly quirky personality that adds to the dining experience. For dinner, we both take turns ordering the Roasted Red Pepper Penne, we enjoy it so much. It is by far the best pasta dish on the menu, especially if you’re looking for a vegetarian option. Another favorite is the Spicy Shrimp Linguini! Yum Yum… i’m getting hungry just thinking about it. I’d also recommend trying their lunch menu. I’m a fan of the Shrimp & Avocado Pita served with Greek fries.
in the summer I can’t get enough of the grilled tiger prawn dishes: pita sandwich, pasta and skewers
in the winter the pastitsio and mousakka are favorites
don’t miss the beet salad!
