It sometimes seems like the folks in Wallingford regard real estate like others regard baseball: whether or not you play, it’s fun to keep an eye on the deals, the stats and the intrigue. Given that, it’s appropriate that we’re able to welcome a real estate broker, Cooper Jacobs, as our newest sponsor. Courtney Cooper has been in real estate for going on 10 years: the first 7 with Windermere before she decided to open her own company (along with her husband Morgan) to take full advantage of the Internet for her buyers a bit over two years ago.
She focuses mainly on Wallingford, Capitol Hill, Queen Anne, Eastlake, Green Lake, Phinney Ridge, Ballard, Greenwood, and Maple Leaf (but, she notes, a lot of Wallingford and Green Lake recently). In fact, she first came to our attention (and perhaps we came to hers) when we ran a story on a house she’s representing: the Cheapest House in Wallingford.
For her welcome post, she asked us to mention that she has just this day listed a 1924 home in the heart of Wallingford, kitty corner from Wallingford Center and across the street from Julia’s, 4333 Wallingford Ave. It’s a bit unusual in that it was built by the developer who built the houses on the rest of the street, but was built for his own use (to which the size of the master suite attests).
It’s been beautifully maintained and updated over the years, with a modern, open floor plan on the first floor and gleaming hardwoods throughout. The sellers note that the “crown molding and original woodwork all came from a lumber mill down on Lake Union at the end of Wallingford Ave. That’s why so many of the houses in this area have the same style of woodwork. Whenever we have done any improvements or remodeling we have saved the woodwork and reused it.”
Morgan and Courtney will be holding an open house this Wednesday from 10 – 2 and then again Saturday, 8/22 10 – 2 pm and Sunday, 8/23 10 – 5 pm. The asking price is $895,000 and full of details on the house can be found on their web site.
Thanks for the warm welcome – I have been following Wallyhood for a while now – both on the blog and also on Twitter:) I think you are operating a great community service here and want to support that! The link to the house is http://www.cooperjacobs.com/29114443 We are already getting great action and the sign isn’t going up until today!
Thanks again!
$895K for a 2000 square foot house in Wallingford? That is INSANE. IN. SANE. A similar house in West Seattle or Columbia City would cost half as much and have a much bigger yard.
Wallingford is no longer affordable for people with regular jobs in this economy.
