Sounds like the usual spate of door-to-door case-the-joint scams are making their way to Wallingford. Ed writes:
Comcast scam – a couple of young men, one wearing a yellow vest and with a badge with his picture on it and “Comcast” cruised Meridian between 50th and 52nd this evening, about 6 p.m. They asked me if I was happy with my service. I’d just gotten a new box and it wasn’t working and told them so. They replied that they couldn’t help me and to call Comcast. I thought this was the infamous Comcast service and told them that if they couldn’t help me they should not bother me. They went to my neighbor’s house and told him that his service was being disconnected and that they had to come in and take his box away. He told them under no circumstances were they coming into his house. They left and he called Comcast, who said that this was a scam and that they were not Comcast employees. Folks should not let anyone saying they are from Comcast into their house unless they have a service call scheduled. If these men show up somewhere else, please call the police and report them.
Good reminder. If it seems suspicious, it is suspicious.
One of these Comcast guys came by my house asking if we wanted to bundle/upgrade. I called Comcast to see if it was legit, and they said they do have people out in the neighborhood trying to up sell customers into bundles. I let them know about the info here about the scams, and they said if anyone does show up at your door, you can always call and they will look up and see if they are a real employee.
