Brian L. just forwarded this story from this morning’s Seattle Times, Robbers make off with computers and a gun in North Seattle home invasion incident early today:
One armed man and two other men kicked in the door of an apartment [in the 5400 block of Meridian Avenue North about 1:10 a.m.], terrorizing two residents there before fleeing with computers and a gun, Seattle police said. […]
“The two victims were in their apartment when three unknown male suspects kicked the door in,” Witt said.
One of the victims grabbed a gun to confront the suspects, one of whom also had a gun, Witt said.
“A standoff ensued and the victim fearing for his life dropped his firearm and complied with the suspects,” she said.
A second victim, who the suspects had on the floor, “was kicked in the face by one of the suspects during the incident,” Witt added.
The three robbers moved quickly, taking two laptop computers and the victim’s handgun before fleeing out of the back of the apartment, Witt said. They were last seen heading east on 55th Avenue North.
Seattle police K-9 units conducted a search of the area, Witt said, but couldn’t find the robbers this morning.
Ballard alert: Police told our Sunset Hill neighbor (who got burgled yesterday) that there is a big burglary ring working the area right now so be extra vigilant keeping all windows and doors closed–even when home.
Sounds like they knew the home.
PI was tagging this as “Greenlake” so I didn’t really read about it until highlighted here.
Not sure how I feel about the victim having pulled a gun; they’re lucky no one got hurt.
Did anyone hear or see the police? I live right around the corner and saw/heard nothing last night or this morning, strange.
There have also been other reports about a couple around my neighborhood(Kirkwood Pl N and 52nd) carrying a lot of empty shopping bags and perusing around cars in the neighborhood several times. They are a young couple, and occasionally have a small dog with them too, so we’ve been on the lookout as a neighborhood. Also, my parents were walking our dog Mickey about a week ago at night, and up near Keystone Congregational Church there was a car running, and another big truck roared up and pulled up near it, a guy ran out to the other running car, gave him a bag, and then got back in his car and went screeching off into the night. My parents are positive it was a drug deal! I think we need to be more careful around Wallingford now!
Does SPD have a description of the “three unknown male suspects?” That might help.
