Back in March, we lamented the passing of what had been a neighborhood fixture (although a dilapidated, cheap booze selling fixture of late), the 50th Street Market. Dan S., the original 50th St. tipster, let us know last night that the Phoenix is rising:
Balloons and a sandwich board have appeared in front of the 50th Street Market, the closing of which we reported back in March. The text and valentine hearts of the sign suggest that the store will re-open on August 1st. The interior doesn’t look quite ready for an opening, but I suppose a lot can happen in two weeks.Anyone got details? Did the owner find a buyer, or is he reopening it himself? Will there be cheap booze?
