Just because we love to freak you out, here is the Wallingford Burglarly report for March and April as printed in the Wallingford eNews. It’s a sampling of crimes from around the neighborhood. Enjoy!
4/03 1600blk N. 50th reported at 6:00PM, the victim came home from work and saw that his TV was missing, he checked and found that the lock on the rear sliding door had been broken off, he also saw that other items had been stolen.
4/03 3800blk Woodlawn Ave N. reported at 11:10PM, the resident arrived home from work and noticed that her laptop was gone, the officer found pry marks on the sill of a side, sliding window.
4/06 1300blk N. 40th reported at 12:30PM, this house had just been sold and is unoccupied and unlocked, the seller went to check on the place and discovered that the copper piping and wiring in the basement had been stolen.
4/20 3700blk Wallingford Ave N. reported at 2:48PM, the elderly resident says that her wallet was missing from her purse, she and her daughter searched the house but could not find it, the victim had been working in the garden and left her doors unlocked so it is possible that the house was entered.
4/22 4600blk 1st Ave NE, reported at 12:06AM, the roommates were away from the house from afternoon until late at night, when they arrived home they found the back door had been kicked in, there is a dead bolt on the door but it was not engaged, one of the victims found some of her property outside.
3/04 3900blk 4 Ave NE, reported at 11:42PM, the victim reports that his bike was stolen from his apt. building garage in Oct. of 2008, on 2/26/09 he also lost some camping gear, he said that another tenant had a bike stolen in Jan. 2009, there was no sign of forced entry in any of these cases and the victim says that tenants often forget to close the door.
3/06 2400blk N. 38th St. reported at 11:17PM, the house was empty all day, when the first roommate arrived home in the evening she noticed that some lattice underneath the house was open, there was no sign of forced entry so it appears a door was left unlocked, several laptops, and IPods were among the items stolen
3/27 3600blk Wallingford Ave N. reported at 1:14AM, the victim was out for the evening, when he arrived he
noticed that his Xbox was missing, there was no sign of forced entry and the victim says he and his roommates
rarely locked their doors.3/27 3800blk Carr Pl N. reported at 10:30AM, the residents were at home when they heard their wireless doorbell ring, they did not answer the door thinking it was a salesperson, moments later they heard a loud popping sound at the window, they yelled and the suspect took off.

The interesting part is that someone was home at the time it went missing.
