Other Side of Garden Tour

Jordan Jordan June 8, 2009 4 Comments

While it sounds like the Wallingford Garden Tour was an overall success, we did receive one disturbing report from one of the hosts:

Unfortunately, I had some very angry neighbors last night and am wondering if you or any of the other tour hosts knew a 50ish man in khaki with black hair and a black Dali-esque mustache. The neighbors saw him with the Tour booklet and he came to my house after 4 p.m., although I did not see him myself.

He was taking pictures of children in swim suits at the multi family yard sale across the street from me and was witnessed to touch a young girl inappropriately in front of my house, before being photographed and chased off the block.  I do have a close up photo of him and I also heard from my friends on the tour, that he had been inappropriate at one of the other gardens, as well.

I don’t know what can be done about the pictures of the children that he took, but I think it would be helpful if someone “official” talked to my neighbors, like that guy from the neighborhood office.  They were understandably kind of freaked out.

If anyone else had a similar experience or has more information they’d like to share, feel free to contact us and we will try to put you in touch with the appropriate people.

grrr, it’s jerks like this that give the rest of us with dali-esque mustaches a bad name (yes i have a mustache that could be described as dali-esque, and no i’m not 50ish).

What am I missing here? There might not have been much to be done if he was “only” taking pictures from the sidewalk or some public place, but if he was actually inappropriately touching children why didn’t anyone call the freakin’ police? Maybe the guy is registered or has outstanding warrants or whatever and they could have done something about him.

Our garden was part of the tour and this guy also came to our house and he was a bit wierd…..he asked for some water and then sat down and stayed about 30 mins….he chatted a bit and since I am Scottish kept saying to me I should teach him some Scottish…..he took some photos of the garden and a few of me outside the house as well, I just thought at the time he liked the entrance or something so just smiled…..but he was wierd and I know that a few other people thought the same. I dont have kids so its not really a big issue for me but he was an odd guy and the other people around at the time thought so too……..I do hope this doesnt come to anything and it was just him taking photos…hope those involved are ok and you are able to get some help re the photos.
