Joan C. tipped us off to an energy efficiency program the EOS Alliance is offering Seattle residents. It sounds like they’ll send a pro to do a full assessment of your home, inside and out, with recommendations for how to improve, and it’s free.
But there’s a catch. They can’t do everyone, so they’re choosing which houses to provide the service to based on how many people from a single block apply. Here’s the scoop:
EOS Alliance is helping Seattle residents go green one block at a time through a Green Blocks Pilot Project. The Green Blocks project provides energy audits and some energy efficiency measures free of charge to participating Seattle. Participating residents submit applications and are selected based on the number of applicants received from the same city block. […]
From July 6 through August 21, 2009, participating residents will receive free home environmental performance assessments. Each assessment will be conducted by professionals certified by the Building Performance Institute (BPI). These are the same professional assessments that cost $400 to $600 and include evaluations of home energy, water, fossil fuel, solid waste, and landscaping efficiency. Each participating home owner will receive a report outlining home performance; recommended improvements; applicable grants, rebates, and tax incentives; and available services and training.
So, Joan applied…but if her neighbors don’t, she’s going to be shivering cold this winter, shoveling money into her fireplace while wind whips through the holes in her wall. So, come on, help a sister out, visit the Green Blocks program web site and apply now.
The form says that applications are due by June 24, so did the deadline get extended?
