Looks like there’s a fun open house for serious home shoppers or looky loos alike this Sunday at 49th and Wallingford Ave N. From the realtors description:
Do you feel that if you live in a city, then bring on the city? Does the daily pulsing of city life – people passing by, traffic, a walking score of 98/100 (Walk Score) – make your pulse race? But… do you also love tradition – a 100 year-old Craftsman that still has original box-beam ceilings, wainscoting, hardwood floors …? Are you more a traditionalist in the style of Rolling Stone than Better Homes & Gardens? Do you love dinner parties with everyone at one table? Or outdoor entertainment where small conversation groups can spread out across a ¾-surround deck? … Nestled in the heart of Wallingford, a mere 4 blocks from restaurants, movies, shopping .., 1/3 of a mile from Green Lake…this 1910 Craftsman is for you. Features 5 bedrooms & 2 ½ baths, an open layout…, a cook’s dream of a kitchen, & a separate suite suitable for guests or teens on the lower level…, and an established drought-resistant garden with a hot tub…. There is nothing mundane here, nothing suburban here. This is the city. This is unique. This is your non-traditional life in – at last – a house to match.
Ooo! Sounds like such an exciting neighborhood: daily pulsing of city life, Rolling Stone, dinner parties, big decks, we want to live there!
Oh, wait, we do. That’s our neighborhood. Sweet! More photos on their web site. Love that a good quarter of the photos are just shots from around the neighborhood: Guild 45th, Trophy, Fuel, Molly Moon’s. Location, location, location.
Open house is Sunday, May 31 1 – 4 pm, contact Kris Murphy of John L. Scott Real Estate for more info. Contact info on the web site: www.WallingfordCraftsman.com.
Nice house, but *799K*? Who in the dickens can afford that right now?
If we ever decide to buy a house, it’s gonna have to be pretty far away from Wallingford. Nothing is priced reasonably enough for your average working couple….
Beautiful house! Maybe one day, when my stocks and salary double, my wife gets a job, and I win the lottery – I *might* be able to afford it. Until then I guess I’ll keep renting down the street.
Bummer; I really like living in Wallingford, but there’s no way I can afford to live here long-term.
The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, isn’t it??
Wait, we are on the other side of the fence!
We live where the grass is greener (not the medicinal stuff, people….).
The hangouts are cooler, the ice cream is creamier, the honey is sweeter…….,
Simply, THE place everyone wants to be….
C-O-O-L, isn’t it?
Yeah, 799k seems a bit much for that house, especially given it’s proximity to 50th street which is a parking lot on the weekends. Oh, and during rush hour.
I think this place has been on the market for at least three months.
@#5 That’s what happens when a house costs *$800,000* in this economy. There are quite a few in my neck of the woods that have been sittin’ around for a while, too. I feel bad for the sellers, but I think there’s gonna be a lot of vacancies in W’ford until those prices come down more than a little.
There’s a house on Winslow (a block east of 99 at about 43rd) going for 1.2 million. (Or, at least it was last week.) I don’t really know how they compare, but I’m not thinking that one’s going to sell either.
I heard about a year ago this house would come on the market at a million so I’m actually surprised it’s priced so low. It’s a great place — anyone else actually been in it?
