Bowling. For some, a simple past time. For others, a gauge of the decline of the social fabric of our country. For me, a date with sweaty shoes.
For Solid Ground, though, it’s a fundraiser. Meagan Colbeck of Verity Credit Union writes that they are sponsoring a team in the the Strike Out Hunger Bowl-a-thon, benefiting Solid Ground’s Food Security for Children program:
As you are well aware Solid Ground is our friendly neighborhood organization that does a world of good to help our community be free from poverty & prejudice. We at Verity are very pleased to sponsor Solid Ground’s Second Annual Strike Out Hunger Bowl-a-Thon…
We have two teams competing in the bowl-a-thon: our Wallingford Branch and our corporate headquarters. We want to show our HQ counterparts what Wallingford is all about! Our goal is to raise $2000, but we need the help of our neighbors to make it!
Please help us raise money to end hunger. You can make your donation at our branch corner of 45th & Stone Way Ave N … or online (please indicate that you are sponsoring team Verity Wallingford). If you are unable to make a financial contribution please help us spread the word let your friends & family know about this great event and how they can help.
Also accepting donations of foot powder.
It is SO COOL that Verity is bringing two teams of bowlers to Strike Out Hunger! We are thrilled and honored to have neighborhood businesses step up to help feed hungry kids!
Not A Number has bowled with us in the past, and is likely to join again this year. And there is still time for other groups to join us! Email Anna Ramos annar at solid-ground dot org to sign up!
