Quickie reminder: Wallingford is celebrating Earth Day this Wednesday, 4/22 (coincidentally, Earth Day) from 4 – 6 pm in the QFC parking lot. Some things you can do to get involved (via Cathy Tuttle):
Please bake something and bring it to the No Sale Bake Sale, bring food for the food bank, books for reading or giving away, bring branches or bunches of flowers for the flower children, old electronics for environmentally sensitive recycling. What else can you give?
What can you do? Do you have a skill you could give for an hour or more? Some examples: a doctor is doing free blood pressure checks, there are massages, yoga, origami, we’re checking tire air pressure and inflating tires so you use less fuel. Can you teach the macarena, finger knitting, how to say thank you in 10 languages, how to tie useful knots, explain a carbon footprint, give a manicure, a haircut, accounting or legal advice, a WASL spelling test? We still want yo-yo spinners and hula hoopers (bring your own). Dancers? Artists? Musicians?
While the idea of administering the WASL spelling test as our Earth Day gift to the community is enticing, we’re actually bad ass with the hula hoop and may just have to bust a move.
