The results are in! As previously reported (here and here), Amazon Fresh’s delivery service had Wallingford’s Fightin’ 98105 pitted against 98034 (chumps), 98053 (losers) and 98056 (Renton!) for the honor of allowing them to sell their groceries to us. And the winner is….
98105!!!!
Wooo! Woooo! We are the champions, we are the champions, OF THE WORLD!!! Take that 98056! In your FACE!
Seriously, we hear good things about the quality of the produce, and anything that keeps us from staring slack-jawed at our refrigerator, trying to concoct dinner plans around a half-empty mustard jar is a welcome change. Visit http://fresh.amazon.com/, deliveries beginning Tue, March 24th.
And who knows, maybe that hunky guy in the picture will make the delivery.
(Thanks Karen S. for the tip!)
I also enjoy the produce from Amazon Fresh, and for the most part, it’s been a good service. One thing I’m a little leery of: they’ve moved away from requiring 98103 customers to join Amazon Prime (which I thought was stupid in the first place…I mean, why just us in 98103?) to a new requirement: every month you have to spend up to $400 to achieve “Radish Status” which qualifies for free delivery.
While $400 doesn’t sound like a lot (especially for a family of 4 like us), I still have to do a supplemental shop elsewhere, every week I order from Amazon Fresh. Oftentimes, they are out of certain items and/or they just don’t carry them at all, yet. They quickly replenish their stock of sold out items, but for us, it’s generally too late and we’ve already received our delivery.
Re: Margaret’s comment: Actually, you can also still get free delivery by spending $75 on a given order. They’re test-driving the $400/month thing to see which model makes more sense. Meanwhile, if you ever don’t qualify for free delivery, the charge is only $5, which as I recall is cheaper than Safeway’s delivery fee.
I have been loving Amazon Fresh for the past couple of months here in 98103 because a) it means I don’t have to grocery shop with my toddler, b) my mother-in-law has discovered it’s a fun way to send celebratory birthday meals, c) their natural/organic and meat selections are way better than QFC, which is the only competition in my walking radius, and d) it saves time. I don’t work for Amazon, nor does anyone I know, by the way. I’m just seriously pleased with the service!
Seattle Times has an insert from Amazon Fresh today with a coupon for a free bag of produce (for new customers).
