No, no, they’re not auctioning off childcare, although with the bundle of energy Baby Z is turning into, we would be willing to raise our paddle. Rather, the Wallingford Childcare center is holding a fundraising auction and are soliciting donations. Karen and Annie wrote:
Our local Matters of the Heart auction is being held April 24. This annual fundraiser is a joint effort of the Wallingford United Methodist Church and the Wallingford Childcare Center (nondenominational, nonprofit, housed in the church). Most families involved are from the ‘hood, and the majority of donors are local businesses and individuals right here in Wallingford.
We’d like to encourage you to give an item for this year’s auction (a gift certificate, a tangible item, an experience, anything!) to help make this event bigger and better than ever.
If a business or individual has something to donate, or questions, they can email Annie Tegen at tegenannie (at) hotmail.com. If people in the ‘hood are interested in attending the auction, they can email Annie for ticket info ($52 per person for a night of fun – appetizers and silent auction, followed by dinner and the wild live auction!). Deadline is April 14th.
It sounds like a nice setup. The church provides space to the childcare center for free, and they also put money towards scholarsip money for families who cannot afford tuition.
We’d like to go on record as saying that we would have posted this even if Annie hadn’t mentioned in her note that Baby Z is a “doll” with “fabulous” hair, which he is and he has.
Thanks for posting about the Wallingford auction!
Oops sorry guys, I managed to write my own email wrong somehow. My email is tegenannie(at)hotmail.com
Please do email me if you are interested in attending or donating anything to the auction (your services, your artwork, your homebaked brownies, a weekend stay at your cabin… we’ll take it all! And we’re a non-profit so it’s a tax deduction for you. Thanks, Wallingford!
Fixed it in the post, too.
