As a self-proclaimed representative from the new media (in addition to this blog, for example, we just returned from Oregon, where we gave a talk at a conference on using Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and other new media in the event industry), we won’t be there, as we have prior plans to make burritos for the Totcycle blog family over in neighboring Ballard. We would love it if someone sent a report on how it turns out.
Would have loved to go but I got her email just a few hours ago?! This is either poorly planned or poorly communicated by our fearless chamber prez. Alas, at least some people will get good info…
Can Grizzle provide how to get event news to people faster/more efficiently? The event was put on Chamber website & calendar and announced via email to all chamber members well in advance. http://www.wallingfordchamber.org.
New ideas always welcome – thanks folks!

happy to respond. after the Feb. chamber meeting which featured some similar info for our businesses (which most found super-useful) i offered to put this one together, based on a workshop i attended at S Snohomish Chamber. to get it to happen, with the same business consultant, before our next chamber meeting, with reps from old & new media, and get invites out to other chambers…. well, it required a lot of work. i did email out several times, with some emails not arriving due to a server problem.
we had about 24 of us there; 7 media/promotion people gave info about their newspapers, radio ads, coupon books, email marketing, using blogs (yes, we talked about Wallyhood!) & Twitter. the main speaker had a powerpoint presentation, and useful handouts to assist any size business in looking at numbers, staffing, and how to decide to continue thru an economic upturn. economists & consultants are saying we should hang on a couple more months, if we can. (that’s the tricky part for some of us.)
anyone wishing more info, or to get copies of some of the articles, media handouts, checklist for businesses, etc, please call or email me any time. i’m trying to have a lot of this at the chamber breakfast or come see me at my shop, Not A Number, 1905 N 45th
