Amber from Hollow Earth Radio (whom we covered in January) dropped us a line to let us know they’re applying to the Small and Simple Projects Fund, a Seattle program that awards up to $15,000 to neighborhood group projects. She’d like to get equipment to record the closet musicians of Wallingford.
We think more Walllingfordites should be applying. Projects must fit into certain classes defined by the fund, such as Race Relations or Social Justice, Neighborhood Climate Protection, and Neighborhood Planning and/or Design Project, but given that two of the categories are “Neighborhood Physical Improvement Project” and “Neighborhood Non-Physical Improvement Project”, we’re pretty sure your good idea, whatever it is, can find a home.
So what are you waiting for? Get applying!
Note: The Small and Simple Projects Fund is different than the Neighborhood Projects Fund, which also provides funds to community projects, but is targeted specifically at streets and parks. So many ways to make Wallingford better, and the Obama stimulus package is still chugging through Congress!
