No, we’re not suggesting some sort of accounting scheme.
The 5th annual Edible Book Festival is coming to Wallingford Saturday, April 10th. We’re writing about it now cuz you still have time to enter your own book-themed work of art. And if you’d just like to show up and nosh, that’s ok too.
- What? People bring a piece of edible art related to books: a pun on a title, an interpretation of a scene or character, or just something having to do with books. But it has to be edible.
- Where? Good Shepherd Center, N. 45th Street & Sunnyside Ave N. (map here)
- When? Saturday, April 10th noon-3pm
- Cost? Free if you submit an entry, $10 otherwise
- Deadline? Register by emailing the title of your art to frybooks at gmail dot com by April 8th.
The Edible Book Festival is produced by the Seattle Center for Book Arts who received their first edible grant from the Neighborhood & Community Arts (NCA) program at the Seattle Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs. Here’s how the website “Fry Books” describes the festival:
Cook the Books! combines the creative and culinary talents of NW bibliophiles, foodies, book artists, chefs, bakers, librarians, kids and punsters.
They forgot to mention dorks like me, but that’s ok. Janet at FryBooks tells us it’s really about “the fabulously terrible punning and wit and whimsy and delight of the edible books!” Still not convinced this is the coolest event you’ve ever heard of?
